ABOUT OUR CHURCH

A message from our preacher, Danny Adams

 

A few years ago, I began to question many things about the way we “did church”.

​

One day, I said to my wife, “Imagine finding yourself stranded on a deserted island and all you have is the Bible. You have no preconceived idea of what church should be like. Would the church you get from the scriptures look like the church we have today?”

​

Well, as we studied, we saw that the church in the Bible was different from the church we were a part of. We talked about going somewhere else, but when we looked around, we saw so many problems. Many churches offered salvation without baptism (which was never done in the Bible), most did not take the Lord’s Supper (which was very important to the early church), and still some were changing to casually accept sin. We finally ended up in our living room with a small group of people that wanted to become like the first century church.

In the first century, the people of God were the church, not the building, but the people.

To be church the way the Lord designed it to be, we have to work toward...

​

• Using the Bible as the only source of doctrine

• Having lessons that are Bible based

• Developing an intense love for one another and for the Lord

• Becoming disciples and making new disciples of Christ

• Coming together as servants rather than consumers
